Operations and Compliance Manager
This role is responsible for supporting with planning, organising and managing all aspects of the delivery and operations of DGG and each of the guarantors DGG develops and/or manages funds. The Operations and Compliance Manager will also be responsible for ensuring operational (and regulatory) risks across the business are managed and DGG (and the funds) adhere to internal policies.
Main Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Design, develop, and implement operating environments (in line with best practice) across the company and the funds and coordinate the efforts of the different operational areas to increase productivity and ensure minimal duplication efforts, maximise efficiency; always ensuring change is managed in line with best in class change management principles, methodologies, and tools.
- Maintain and periodically review operational policies, procedures, and guidelines of the company and the funds to adhere with best practices.
- Support the COO with defining and managing the launch of new guarantors which includes defining priorities, resources, and deadlines for all workstreams and to ensure operational readiness and overall goals of the guarantor are met.
- Contribute to the development of the company’s business strategy by providing a view on potential improvements on the company’s operations and an assessment of the existing situation and anticipated changes in the external environment.
Risk and Compliance
- Identify, assess, and mitigate operational (and regulatory) risks across the company and funds.
- Develop and execute compliance monitoring plans, ensuring risks are identified and addressed. This should include developing and implementing risk-based testing and monitoring frameworks to ensure adherence to compliance obligations.
- Monitor and interpret regulatory changes, assessing their impact on business operations and ensuring timely updates to policies and procedures.
- Act as a key liaison for risk and compliance matters with regulators (if required), auditors, and other external stakeholders.
- Provide compliance advisory support across the company on operational risk and compliance matters.
- Investigate compliance breaches and recommend corrective actions.
Reporting
- Prepare compliance reports for senior management, regulatory bodies (if required), and DGG’s Board and Risk and Audit Committee.
- Support the Head of Finance with reporting across the business (including for funds), which will include regular ongoing reporting and ad-hoc reporting as required, always ensuring reporting deadlines are met and the reports produced are accurate and complete.
Desired Skills and Experience
Technical Expertise
- Experience in fund management or operations positions in a credit or finance institution, the Big Four or FinTech.
- Strong project management skills and knowledge of monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
- Experience in internal audits and assurance processes.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including donors, governments, and private sector entities.
- Postgraduate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or related fields beneficial but not essential.
Leadership
- A strong ability to effectively plan and manage DGG’s resources, fostering high-quality results and encouraging innovation within an open team-based environment.
- Demonstrate the ability to have candid conversations with peers to set expectations and address accountabilities or performance issues within DGG.
Communication and Collaboration
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to project gravitas and build confidence with senior decision-makers and management.
- Demonstrable track record of fostering teamwork and a culture of open communication within DGG’s dispersed and virtual team.

- Strong commitment to ethical standards and compliance rules.
- Demonstrated professionalism and integrity.

- Ability to quickly determine whether a potential guarantee opportunity is aligned with DGG’s strategic objectives.
- Ability to think laterally and identify potential guarantee opportunities which may not be immediately obvious.

- Display an excellent command of written and spoken English.
